Ill protect my heart with armour that is tougher than your feet, so that when you walk all over it, your footprints wont sink in and leave marks where there shouldnt be. Ill add a layer of shields, held by an army of men, so that when you fire your words at me, they wont get in again. Ill finish with layers upon layers of roses with already detached thorns, so that maybe I wont scare you away despite all of my forewarns. And maybe once you pick off the petals, treating them like daisies with She loves me, She loves me not, Ill dare to put down the shield for a second, and maybe even let you leave your mark.
