Illinois: Jake (Jake Wil Gallop) is an 8 year old TB gelding who is looking for a home. He was a stakes winning horse who won over $130,000 on the track. He had an injury that ended his career (suspensory branch injury with an avulsion fragment off the sesamoid-front leg). His owners did surgery and rehab on him in the hopes he could have a good retirement and he is sound at the walk, mildly lame at the trot with some fetlock arthritis. He is sound for light use such as easy trails and as a companion. As a companion, Jake would excel. He is a clown of a horse and will do anything for Wheat Thins crackers. Hes smart as a whip, learns fast, and gets bored easily. He may offer an occasional love nip. (Ok, sometimes he bites but its always for good reason). But he is the most wonderful big time personality. He has had no training beyond the track and has been off for over a year. He gets along well with other horses. He can stay outside in a pasture with shelter with no problem and is currently barefoot but may need shoes for trail work (unsure about this). He is 161, a flashy chestnut with chrome. His difficulty is that he is sound for light use, but not yet retrained so he would need someone who is savvy to retrain him without pushing him super hard.
