Illness at childcare - disclosure ------- Hello Canberra Mums How are you all doing? I have a Q your answer matters 😊 My 3 years old son recently joined childcare like 6 weeks ago, he used to go to FDC before. He is totally loving his center. As he is v social boy 😊 4 weeks after joining him we got an email from childcare director that 1 of child in center been diagnosed with CROUP, (just want to tell u Im a medical doctor and worked in hospital). I replied to director by email & asked her can u pls tell me if croup case is in my sons room? & she replied I cant tell you becoz of confidentiality issue. I thought ok thats fine as long that child is not coming to center its fine, beside the fact that I know croup is highly contagious viral infection & incubation period is 5 days. Than again after 2 weeks of croup incident I got an email that a child in center have got impetigo(school sores) & when I asked is the child is in my sons room I got the same reply from educator of my sons room. I decided to talk to director & I explained her that I m not asking child name neither I have any interest & I know about confidentiality of patient better than u. I just needed to know if that child is from my sons room Im happy to keep my son at home instead of having same problem & I know that impetigo is also v contagious. After explaining her she understood n told me no that child is not from your sons room. I just wana know is it wrong if u ask that child who is sick is ur child room? Please answer me cos it can happen again. Thanks lovelies Xoxo
