Im a bit late to comment on the whole Alt-Fest scandal today. :) Rumours have been circulating that the event is cancelled. While the official page or website has (worryingly) made no comment on the matter, a number of bands have confirmed they have received cancellation emails, as has Rob Ferguson of Transcend Music (who manages a number of artists booked for the festival, including Fields Of The Nephilim). Now, the idiocy of people is astounding. Rather than scanning around for information like I did, that have been quick to assume it is some form of ridiculous underhand PR stunt from Bloodstock Festival, solely because SOPHIE/New Blood stage organizer Simon Hall of the band Beholder - booked to play the festival - announced that they have been informed of its cancellation. I have always had my doubts that the event would go ahead, due to its crowd-funded nature and the sheer scale of the overall festival. Its obviously very sad to see this event go under, and a team of dedicated people have worked tirelessly in an attempt to bring a music event of this kind to the UK. There is of course still a chance (without further proof) that the event will still go ahead, just on a smaller scale. But to every artist who insulted the bands and management companies who humbly announced its cancellation in an attempt to look after YOU, their fans... expect no time from me in the future. I have a good memory.
