Im a day late, but yesterday was World Prematurity Day! Babies born before 37 weeks gestation are considered premature, often referred to as preemies. I was born at exactly 37 weeks, so technically I would have reached the cut-off, but due to what would probably now be diagnosed as Intra-Uterine Growth Restriction (IUGR), I measured closer to 32~33 weeks and got to keep preemie status. Even a few months out from birth, I was not much bigger than a doll (see photo!). I havent gained all that much from my birth weight of 4 lbs 4 oz, but aside from a chronic cough, fatigue issues and bad knees, I am quite healthy and now carrying my own baby safely (and hopefully to term). Both preemies and moms of preemies are incredible fighters!! This post is dedicated to all us tiny giants and those women who carried us as long as they could
