Im a little bit overwhelmed by Mason the past few days. So first, were at Toys R Us, and hes super excited about the race car bed, and I want to be the dad that buys it when he cant afford it, but I cant and I realize Im old. So as a consolation for my dying sense of whimsy, I decide these little fold-out couches are in my price range, and theres one with Cars on it, so Im like perfect. But Mason has even more introspection literally in store for me because he doesnt want red and blue Cars. He grabs Minnie Mouse off the shelf, the pinkest polka dottiest thing Ive ever seen. I interrogate him, Are you sure? I put them next to each other and make him pick. And... he says Minnie every time. I thought Id have more time before I was forced to put my money where my mouth was. But now its home and he loves that couch. THEN, this morning he wants to come with me to work, upstairs in my home office. KT was dealing with Elliott and Mason was insisting, so I acquiesced. We went upstairs and in 5 minutes of rummaging through my desk drawer, we put together Masons treasure box. It has a kip (clip), dubloons (pesos) and blocks (old D&D dice.) He played with it all day and tonight going to bed, KT had to take his treasures out of his room because he wouldnt leave it on the dresser where it goes. It feels a little contrived because it was my idea, and maybe I watched Amelie too many times, but it seems incredibly adorable to me. So yea, Mason is making my life difficult in all the best ways.
