Im a successful, hard-working college student in a stable, happy relationship. I have dreams and goals and aspirations. Im also on birth control and have been since I was sixteen. If it were to fail and I were to get pregnant tomorrow, even though Im in a healthy, happy relationship, I would consult my partner and then almost certainly abort the fetus. Especially if I found out early. Im not interested in throwing my life plans out the window for the sake of a clump of cells forming in my uterus that I took precautions to prevent. Im also not interested in giving birth to child just to put it in the overloaded foster care system, nor in taking away the opportunity for adoption from the children who are already out there struggling to find a home. How about we focus more of our collective efforts on making sure the poverty-stricken in this country are healthy and are being given opportunities instead of trying to police peoples vaginas, and demanding a constant increase of that population?
