Im a theatre critic/columnist. Ive seen several productions of The Sound Of Music and Ive seen many ladies portray Maria. Still, the idea of Carrie Underwood in The Sound Of Music: Live on NBC Dec. 5 bothers me and frightens me. As a theatre person, I should watch it. Perhaps Carrie will surprise me and be adequate as Maria. Well, I can hope; but I have a feeling I am better suited to the role than Underwood is. So, why watch?
