Im actually disgusted at those who are saying that this mornings protesters should have been run over, poured water on, plowed through and so on. White resistance to this movement is sickening, heartbreaking, and frustrating beyond what words could explain. Try to understand for a second, THE MOVEMENT IS TRYING TO CHANGE THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF AMERICA IN TERMS OF RACIAL DISPARITIES. This is not for nothing. In that time that the protesters halted traffic you could have thought about your children still asleep in not in a coffin. You had a job to go to, many Black, Brown, and gender non conforming people dont have that luxury on the basis of discrimination. You could have questioned what inhibited these young folks to do this and thought deeply about why there beliefs may be true. Policy and legal action must be met with civic action in order to create lasting change. Each action performed represents a step towards commitment and solidarity within the oppressed communities that is leading to building a stronger foundation. You can not keep ignoring our pleas for more just, equal justice system. Stop spewing hate and ignorance and feel the weight of the 1,200 pounds tied to the bodies of those protesters. That is the day in the life of a person of color in the U.S, while you just pass on by.
