Im all for supporting anyone or a group that raises money or awareness about diseases or causes but Im having trouble connecting the dots with the ALS Ice Water Challenge. If 99.9% of the people are dumping water over their head instead of donating money, how does this raise awareness? Awareness (IMO) isnt quickly mentioning ALS or other conditions and then dumping water over your head. I would think awareness would be posting some statistics or sharing how the disease/cause directly affects you. Or maybe posting a link to where people can donate money. I think everyone has good intentions but people dont seem to mention ALS beyond the ice water challenge posts. Ive had friends lose their parents to ALS. One story that got me was about Steve Gleason who played for the Saints. To see what ALS can do to a pro athelete who was physically in the prime of his career is staggering.
