Im an earthquake pro by now having experienced more quakes than I - TopicsExpress

Im an earthquake pro by now having experienced more quakes than I have remembered to count. But still, whenever a quake happens I get excited, scared and curious all at the same time cause although a little shaking can be fun, you never know how big its going to get or what is going to fall. My first earthquake was the 91 Sierra Madre quake. This 5.6 mag hit while I was sitting in the front doorway reading a book from the library. My mom peeked out from the kitchen and according to her my eyes were big white plates. My eyes still get big. When the 94 Northridge quake at a disastrous 6.9 mag hit I was dreaming I was on Gilligans Island with an erupting volcano. I woke up to items on my bookshelf being thrown across the room. The last two earthquakes weve had here in Los Angeles have been very shallow and Brad has missed both of them because hes been out of town. If theres a pattern here and theres a quake every time he leaves town, this year we are in for some major shaking. After the 4.4 mag shamrock shake that hit less than 2 weeks ago, I wasnt expecting another one so soon. The 5.1 mag that happened last night in La Habra was 10 times larger in terms of energy released and it had a 3.6 preliminary quake 1 hour earlier in the same city. Not to mention there have been at least 30 aftershocks some of which have hit over 3 mags and one of those hit less than a minute after. The aftershocks are STILL coming though, the last one hitting 2.6 mags. My cats are acting weird and wont let me sleep... so I quake watch.
