Im awake! Im awake! Im wide awake! However, I wasnt a few nights ago at this very time in the morning!!! I tried to capture a special moment on film after reading a middle of the night story to Sofia. It was sometime after 1 am in the morning and I heard her voice in my ear saying, wake up daddy, wake up! I remember being knocked out smooth and wondering if I were entering into one of those deep sleep dreams where you cant tell dreaming from reality... Thats when I felt it... a smack to the face and a smack to the head! Wake up daddy, wake up... I remember being dazed... not from the smacks but from the zombie deep and dead sleep I was in. I replied, huh, what Sofia? Thinking awe man she is gonna want a midnight snack or shes for sure gonna want me to get up and get her a glass of milk!!! And I aint got to pee nor do I want a drink... please Lord just let me go back to deep sleeping! But oh no.... She said, Daddy, Daddy wake up I want you to read to me! I responded, what? You want me to read to you? Keep in mind its a pitch black room full of nothing but darkness! I replied, Its bed time baby lets read tomorrow... Ill read whatever you want tomorrow. Yet, she insisted and as the Daddy we all want, I gave in and asked her what did she want me to read? The bible, the bible, She said... turn on the light daddy! I was a little shocked but the bible was in arms reach... I could stay in bed and flip on a my reading light near the bed. Cool, I thought... so, I flipped on the light and asked her which bible did she want me to read from... I was being sarcastic knowing she wouldnt know between new living translation, new king james, new international version.... Blah blah blah so I just grabbed the precious moments new king james version knowing it has a few pictures she could look at but she said I dont want that one Daddy... As she pointed to the other one... I want you to read that one to me! What was I gonna say besides yes mam! and just exactly where would you like me to start? Being halfway asleep and still sarcastic as usual... I was trying to think of a good place to start reading... Leviticus came right to mind knowing it could put anybody to sleep!!! Lol, but I figured since she was really showing some interest and there was a good chance she would and or could retain something good... plus and besides maybe a lesson in it for me too... its rare our children beg us to read anything to them let alone the bible! So I thought, I had better just start from the New Testament... right there, first chapter of Matthew! Half way through the first chapter I thought shed be right back to sleep but oh no! She was sitting right up inquisitive asking me what their names were again and how do you say it??? Many, I cant even pronounce... so, honestly Im just like, I dont know sofia... Ill have to learn and get back with ya on that! Moving on through chapter 2 she is repeating it back to me as Im reading and like, asking and making sure that Im getting it!!! Me??? The reader??? The father of her??? No way Im thinking... no possible way is anyone gonna believe this story... how will I ever tell this one to Jace and he believe me!?!?! Keep in mind Im still processing information somewhat slow... and I think oh yeah my cell phone!!! Ill record her teaching me on my cell phone!!! Start struck and stage fright must have kicked in... I was like #dadgumit!!! The 2 1/2 year old messed up and how do I retake? like... ready, set, action all over again... yeah right, no way! So, I was nervous to share this 4 minute clip of our 30 minute or longer (AFTER 1 AM) bible lesson with Sofia. But here I am awake feeling led to share! #TestimonyTuesday, Forgive us the mistakes, shes still tired and so was I. Also, I think her tongue must have been somewhat swollen because she doesnt normally talk like this, however, it is too cute not to share!
