Im back from Stalingrad, Volgogradskaya Oblast, Russia, people. I spend couple of days with 4 men there and this is the whole trip in pictures of food and some other stuff. Everything started at Domodedovo airport in Moscow. We bought samsas in front of the main entrance because the prices of food inside are astronomical. We booked our tickets with S7, one of the biggest Russian airlines. We got big paper boxes during the flight. Everyone thought there will be a sandwich and probably something sweet but the box was almost empty, with juice and one of the worst sweet things in this world, Choco Pie. As soon as we arrived to Stalingrad/Volgograd, we took two taxis, headed to our hosts house, left our bags there and went to a magical place called kulinaria (something between stolovaya and a restaurant). I took their red tray and filled it with fantastic plov, very good dumplings and chicken. I havent eaten anything tasty like that outside of my house for quite some time. I couldnt help it I had to try they do with chocolate too and I got this amazing cake. I paid something around 200 RUB (aprox. 3,70 EUR) for everything. After sight-seeing, we went to our hosts flat in the city center and enjoyed their great hospitality. We got chicken with onions, carrots and pasta (Ive started calling it new Russian national dish because every one cooks it here), a fancy cake which was bought in kulinaria and herb tea with lemon and honey. The next day, we got up and headed straight back to kulinaria. I got their plov again, chicken Kiev, kono-pizza and a chicken and cheese schnitzel. We walked around this 80 km long city (only 2 km wide) for a whole day and then we went to Brauhaus. I had some fun with their menu and than we ordered cheese and meat platter. Cheese platter was good, meat one was terrible. Never more! We were back in the house we were staying at the reasonable time, we got some tea and sweets from our host and enjoyed classic Russian eternal flame in the kitchen. Last day, we got up and stopped in one of the fast-food places. I got chicken schnitzel stuffed with mushrooms and herbs. Just a perfect healthy breakfast. We arrived to the train station and still had some time left so we stopped at the caffetteria. I ordered very good chicken broth, brownie and cappuccino and I paid 100 RUB (aprox. 1,80 EUR) - thats what I call a great deal! Train ride from Volgograd to Moscow took 20 hours and I dont think it needs any description of the pictures. Enjoy!
