Im back on Facebook because I missed my friends. I missed them all from the young girl I lost touch with when she was about 10 years old and then reconnected with on these pages to discover that shes grown into a truly amazing and incredible young woman. I also missed the people Ive know since we were in diapers together and realized that we love each other now as much as we did then. More maybe. I missed the friends Id shared the best times of my life and the worse times, and discovered that although wed lived full lives since we last saw each other, were best friends still. I appreciate most the friends that share their strength, experience, love and hope for a better life because thats what I need to hear. I dont need to hear that your politics are better than mine or that youre a better American than me. I am a Vietnam Era Veteran and I feel that Ive earned the right to my opinion no matter what the hell it is. I aspire to be a mediocre American because its those who seem to be the most sane. I dont need to hear that your religion is better because I dont share your admiration for the Big Man and I seem to know the right thing to do without being told. Some of the best spiritual advice Ive ever gotten comes from fictional character, Peter Clemenza, in the movie, The Godfather: Leave the gun. Take the cannoli. Its advice that never fails in any situation. If you got this far, then I owe you a debt of gratitude. Im not sure I would have read this if someone else had written it. Its just that I feel Ive had too much hate and bigotry shoved in my face and I wanted to spew a little. Thanks for caring enough to get to the end of this sentence. Every one of you are the good guys and Im fortunate to know each of you. As for the others, I try to remember Shunryu Suzuki, who taught me what I know about Zen and who used to say, You are perfect just the way you are and you could use a little improvement.
