Im beginning to think the media is stringing together a divide in the country along with the politicians in favor of certain elections. Every single big court case that gets plucked from the millions of others and blown up by mainstream media practically makes it impossible for you to not draw an opinion. Its fun for Americans to form opinions on things. Its only when those opinions erupt and cause friendships to be questioned and your faith in humanity to decrease when seeing what unfolds in and outside of the court cases. It drives people up the wall when someone disagrees with them even when confronted with evidence. In Fergusons case, people took to rioting and destroying city property in the name of Michael Brown. I even took a side and ran with it, calling the people rioting in Ferguson morons ( I still think they are, but I am too a moron ), but the problem is much bigger. Everyone is being fed a bunch of lies by the media because it sells. They wouldnt be bringing up something random like the Michael Brown case if it didnt spark something that would make headline news. Because it can be seen as potentially racist, anti-police and anti-government, it made headline news everywhere in America. Yes, you are shown evidence that points toward one side or the other, but you are also being fed a placebo that makes you think your opinion and what you say actually matters. It gives you something to talk about at family/friend gatherings rather than something actually important. We all know people die every day, we all know racism is alive and well (but not as widespread like the media is portraying it), etc, yet were focusing on those things rather than what will actually fix the problems in the country.
