Im beginning to wrap my head around the whirlwind of changes in my last week and am so excited to finally be on the last leg of my long, long journey to qualify as a primary school teacher. I interviewed for a place with United Learning on their School Direct (salaried) programme Monday, 23 July - and a couple of weeks later, everything seems to have turned on its head. Im so lucky with my fabulous friends and family whove been there for me. Through your encouragement and friendship, Ive managed to hang on in there over the last 7 years that Ive been working toward this achievement. (though Sam, you might remember my first forays back in 1998!) THANK YOU for being there for me and believing in me - I couldnt have done it without you! Its been a surreal weak in our house, the timeline goes something like this... MONDAY, 1400 : Received an emai confirming my successful application to the United Learning Teacher Training programme for the 2014-15 academic year. Hurrah! ... email invited me to attending a 3 week Summer Institute starting on Tuesday at 9am... WHAT?! TUESDAY, 0830: Tendered resignation and asked for immediate release from my current contract at Garratt Park School as a Teaching Assistant TUESDAY, 1400: Resignation accepted, contract terminates at 1530. TUESDAY, 1800: Attend launch event for teacher training programme in Central London WEDNESDAY, 0900: Start attending lectures (only one day late) for my PGCE. 6 consecutive hours of lectures is a serious change of pace... FRIDAY, 1000: Fully enrolled at Institute of Education as a post graduate student - first lecture delivered on the university campus and it finally sinks in... I really am in post-graduate study!
