Im breaking my self-imposed facebook moratorium for this, but I - TopicsExpress

Im breaking my self-imposed facebook moratorium for this, but I think its worthwhile: Several months ago, I ranted about a place I had been playing that I thought was treating musicians, customers, and employees poorly. Cancelling gigs on virtually no notice, and just making a lot of poor decisions in general. I believe my exact wording was that they had their heads in a dark and unsanitary place. I generally like to hold my tongue and try not burn too many bridges, but I had had enough and I let go. Imagine my surprise yesterday when the manager called me and asked about booking me for some gigs. I assumed that they had received the message I was angry. If they hadn’t, by the end of the phone call they knew. Anyway, today I decided to stop in and talk to the man face to face. I’m glad I did. He had previously been basically following orders from above, but now he’s got the authority to make some decisions. He apologized for past treatment, and said that he is now working hard to correct problems that he inherited from previous decision makers. That goes not only for the way musicians and employees are treated, but the way customers are treated. He acknowledged the issues I had, and made no excuses for them, but only promised we can start with a clean slate. I appreciated that, shook his hand, and left with the agreement that we can work together again in the future. I guess it goes to show that you should never say never. I look forward to bringing my music back to this venue with a new attitude. Here’s to forgiveness.
