Im driving a regular route for a driver who has been very sick. Shes resting up this week, so Im finishing out the year for her. There are fewer and fewer students on the bus during each shift. With only two days left, we had three or four students on the bus this afternoon. Each day the students have said, Im not coming the rest of the week. That means the route changes, but fortunately, I have a companion who rides with me who KNOWS all the roads in the mountains. If she werent with me, I would know NONE of the shortcuts because in the mountains, the roads dont intersect like they do in the flatlands. Ive been lost more than once up there. Weve sighted lots of deer in the mornings; maybe tomorrow or Friday well see a bear. Saw some turkeys on the roads this week, too,
