Im enjoying the flurry of emails this morning on our local list serve. Our neighbors (faculty or staff of the university) are writing to one another about how rude some of last nights Trick-or-Treaters were! Some resent college students hitting them up for candy, saying it is a rule to stop Halloweening at age nine! Others complain that nobody should ring their bell unless their lights are on. Whatever gave householders the idea THEY were in charge of Halloween? By tradition, isnt this the night when the vandals get to take over? Trick-or-Treat is not supposed to be *polite*. A bunch of disguised strangers show up at your door and threaten damage if you dont pay up. Americas income gap is increasing.
