Im excited to attend a special event this afternoon at the PASSHE Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Center City, Mellon Independence Center (701 Market St). For those unfamiliar with this network of schools, PASSHE stands for Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, made up of fourteen universities located in communities throughout the Commonwealth. The new Chancellor of PASSHE, Frank T. Brogran will be making his first visit to this multi-university site housing programs from Cheyney, West Chester, East Stroudsburg and Millersville. PASSHE opened this location as a way to provide a state system education in the heart of Philadelphia. In addition to Chancellor Frank T. Brogan, the event will also include the PASSHE Board of Governors Chair Guido Pichini, Vice Chair Ron Henry, Board Member David Maser, and Chief of Staff Randy Goin, Jr. With the price of education going up at schools across the nation, its important to know that the fourteen PASSHE universities offer the lowest-cost four-year baccalaureate degree programs in the state to over 100,000 students attending one of the universities with more than 2500 quality programs. PASSHE alumni also tend to stay in Pennsylvania: An estimated 600,000 alumni are in public and private sector positions across the Commonwealth, including myself! bit.ly/1du0VNM Im proud to be one of the two Co-Chairs of the PASSHE Caucus with my colleague Rep. Greg Lucas as we continue to promote the availability of higher education to students attending Pennsylvanias colleges and universities.
