Im finally done testing my new EF 85mm f/1.2 USM II. This lens mounted on a 1D X is still focusing at a reasonable speed but not anything fast for sport photography, you can try but there is better lenses fot that. Wide open ther is some flaws, while vigneting is not to bad, color fringing is really apparent, you will notice a lot of green fringe in the background also contrast is lacking wide open. Also if you are very close to your subject the depth of field will be so small that at least 30% of your shots will be out of focus. playing with your focus points really helps instead of the center point and recompose method. This is a 2000- 2500$ lens that does not focus under 95 cm, does not have IS, no weather sealing, is short tele (85mm) and focus slower than most lens. Its is dedicated to portraiture. On the other hand its fantastic in low light, its an anti flash lens and of course you will get nice bokeh with fantastically sharp subjects. in conclusion, if you have a large budget, get it! if you can afford 2000$ only and would like to get something more flexible but still get a good portrait lens , my suggestion is the 70-200mm f/2.8 USM II .
