Im getting ready for a 100 Mandala Challenge and a 75 day ink sketch a day challenge starting after I finish with SBS. In preparation Ive signed up at Kathryn Costas site for the 100 Mandala Challenge, and am taking a 5 day mandala workshop with Julie Gibbons Creative. This is my first mandala from Julies workshop. It is a Lotus Flower Mandala and its the first time Ive used tools in mandala making! (I usually do them freehand!) I also tried a different technique on it that I havent done in years...inked then colored pencil over markers! (Been inspired lately by Cari Sotos work.) So this is in my 12 X 9 watercolor book using tools, pencil, Micron pen, PITT artist pens and Prismacolor colored pencils. It was a very fun and relaxing experiment! If I use this technique again, its gonna be on smaller paper with larger shapes! :)
