Im going to rant a bit here, so you may want to move on. Few things piss me off worse than a novel that is based on a strong premise but is written shoddily and under-edited. I just read 53% of a book, hoping, no... praying it would get better because I still wanted to know what happened. I just couldnt do it, though. The characters acted in such over the top, unrealistic manners that I know theres no way a serious editor saw this book. Every other sentence jarred me from the narrative and I finally gave up. If youre going to go with a small press or self pub, please make sure you do it BETTER than the big guys. We dont get enough respect as it is. Dont waste a brilliant idea by throwing it out there half-cocked. NO ONE cracks jokes and stops to smile at a friend while being chased by the monster. No one. You shit your pants and worry about it later. Worse than just wasting my time, I feel like I was robbed of the storys pure potential. No, its not any of you.
