Im going to rant so tune out if you dont want to read it! I am very tired of reading and hearing about how people that work at our shelter want the animals to die and how they are horrible people! Really?! Really?! First off, I bet 95% of you that say that or share that have never even met our AC officers so how can you attest to their likes or their behaviors. Secondly, our shelter has horrible adoption hours and practices that are not rescue friendly, we all know that. Our AC officers can control that about like you could control the prices of merchandise at Target if you were a cashier! They cant! Ive been to the shelter. Its stressful, its loud, and its sad. These people do it everyday, and on top of taking care of the animals they deal with phone calls from the public, rescues in and out checking animals, going out to pick up animals, dealing with people bringing in their own poor trembling scared to death surrendered pets and people wanting to see 40 different animals before adopting one. Its a hard job. One that unfortunately at times means they have to euthanize innocent lives. I have never been able to gather the nerve to ask them how they do it. But I imagine they carry those babies on their conscious and in their nightmares. Why dont they quit and find another job? I can hear you ask that now. Because someone has to do it! We are lucky that we have the people that we have there. What if they left? What if we got someone in there that didnt care at all? That mistreated the animals? So instead of blaming them (when it is clearly the fault of people who do not know how to responsibly own a dang pet!!!!) get off your butt and do something about it!! Theres a nifty little form on the shelter website where you can sign up to volunteer! See!! You can make a direct impact!! Better yet, go to the shelter now and meet them! Just say hey, and take them some goodies! Or you can join a rescue! There are lots of ways to volunteer!! Oh, you cant volunteer! I see! Too busy for the animals? Well write a letter or email to the commissioners and ask for a change! For positive improvements! Too busy for that? Not even 5 minutes to spare? Then please do us all a favor and Shut. Your. Mouth! Rant over!
