Im gonna get on my soap box for a few minutes for those of you who want to read it...I know theres controversy going on about this ALS bucket of ice water challenge as some countries dont even have water to drink...I know this first hand as I have been to a few of those countries, it is a very tragic reality and I cant tell you how many buckets of tears Ive cried out for theses people!!!! But ALS is a tragic reality as well...several yrs ago I participated in a walk for ALS because a family my kids went to school with, the father was dealing with it. It was heart breaking to know this man healthy and then see him a yr or so after the ALS took over! It was heart breaking to watch that sweet family as they lost him a year later! I thought what an awful illness...to have your mind FULLY there and not only your body paralyzed so to speak but your voice gone too...having absolutely no way to express yourself!!! I cant begin to imagine the agony of that!!! I look at this challenge as a fun way to get people involved in donating to a very worthy cause and I dare say most of us (unless you live in Calif.) probably waste at least a bucket of water everyday in many ways (leaving the water run as you brush your teeth, not changing the setting on your washing machine etc) if you have a problem with doing the ice bucket challenge due to the wasted water I challenge you to not only donate to ALS but also to the groups who go dig wells for these countries, or send over the purifiers so they can drink the water that they do have but its too contaminated to drink.
