Im grateful for Sigmund my canary co-therapist. He has been with me since the day I started private practice. He is wonderfully sensitive and a sublime reader of body language. He really is the canary down the mind shaft, letting me know when the emotional tone in the room is toxic (he hides under the stairs of his wooden antique house cage, flitters about in terror, or buries his head in his back and puffs himself up), or going well (he will swing up and down the length of his cage like a bravo during a good therapy session, or serenade us with song). He is about to start his own twitter account. It will mainly be tweets, trills, and tra-la-las interspersed with occasionally profound, life-changing statements. Im so grateful to him for all he does for me and the kids who visit me, and for the little he asks for in return. He may be yellow to some, but hes pure 18K gold to me
