Im gutted today. Over the past few weeks Ive been bidding on a house lock stock and barrel. Over the wend I had to consider a final leap. I asked the agent for clarification on whether the ride on mower was included. He came back yesterday saying that the vendor had changed his mind and wanted extra for contents! The contents are not even nearly new so Ive no intention on paying for them specifically but they buy me time to evolve into it. Annoyed I accused the agent of misrepresentation. He defended himself saying that the vendor can change his mind. I find this incredulous, as the other bidders are bidding against my perceived value of the contents. Apparently they are not interested in them and the agent had already told me that the vendor could just call a company to clear out the place. The agent tells me to see the wood for the trees and remember Im bidding on a house not a table. But for me the spirit of the deal has changed. Have we learned nothing about forcing up prices? Im not sure whether Im venting or looking for advice, I guess either would do.
