Im hoping someone here may have had a similar experience and can help me. My vets are at a loss and Im desperate =) My 11-yr old anxious shep mix has had trouble with his appetite for almost 2 years, to the point where I feed him with a spoon daily. Ive been doing that 90% of the time for more than a year. The past few weeks, his teeth have actually been chattering during feeding. Hes currently on fluoxetine and L-theanine (and Dasaquin for his joints). Weve done food trials (his current combo is a mix of Stella&Chewys, Freshpet, and Merrick). Anti-nausea meds. Rimadyl trial for pain. Abdominal ultrasound. Today we went back to square one with new bloodwork and a dental cleaning - everything normal! They cant find a physical reason why the poor appetite, the need for hand-feeding, and now the chattering. So theyre leaning toward anxiety again - grasping at straws, saying to try the thundershirt again just at mealtimes, and a different type of spoon. Were looking for new ideas in case anyone else has experienced anything like that due to anxiety. Im posting a video (I hope thats ok) of his feeding... youtu.be/06LmnMzk3X4
