Im in a philosophical and reflective mood this morning. So I beg your indulgence and forgiveness. It has been said that life is but a collection of moments. Actually, I havent heard that. It is my original thought Im trying to pass off as historical wisdom. The truth is, life is one of habit, and obligation. You wake everyday to meet obligation. Be it work, school, family, and the like. Habit is all the other things in between the obligation. This is the brick and mortar of life. Moments are those things outside this. They are usually rare. They are usually memorable. And if we are fortunate, they become lifetime special. Im not saying life is not worth the journey because of the brick and mortar. Im saying life is worth the journey because of the moments. A moment is best had when it comes out of nowhere. You cant plan these moments. Oh, we try. But moments must unfold in their own time and rhythm. Sometimes its a look. It may be a simple gesture, a random act of kindness. Or it could be life changing. Our challenge is to recognize and embrace this moment. For me, the regret is not the moment passing. It is the failure to embrace and appreciate that moment. Perhaps for me that moment is upon me. God give me the wisdom to get out of my own way and get out of myself. May I recognize and embrace the most precious of lifes gifts; MOMENTS.....
