Im kinda on a Noah kick! Love this man of God! Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God Genesis 6:9. B. Walke has some incredible insight on this verse which I will attempt to summarize here. Noah was righteous, blameless and he walked with God. First, the Holy Spirit convicts us of righteousness (John 16:8,10), that it is rooted in the truthfulness of his promises and in the goodness of his character. Those that are righteous willingly disadvantage themselves for the sake of their LORD and for their neighbors. To be righteous is to bring about right and harmony (Shalom: universal flourishing) for all. It seeks to restore order and justice to a community fractured by wickedness. To be blameless is to abstain from sin. It describes a course of life characterized by integrity, endowed with strong character, with the will to refrain from sin. It is not sinless, but it does strive for holiness - complete and uncorrupted. To walk with God displays agreement and communication with God in all things, it implies that one is teachable... willing to be molded by God into his chosen vessel. Walking with God requires his grace, empowered by faith. In other words, Noahs righteousness, and ours, is not a work to gain merit with God but the outcome of faith in God and in his word to us. Who can stand blameless before God? Who can walk the path of the righteous? Only those that walk with God... ...it is a path where the gate, and each step beyond it, is taken by faith. Do you have faith to be blameless today? To live righteous? To walk with God? What path will you choose and have faith for today?
