Im listenin to espn analysts talk about elite qbs... A contract doesnt make a qb elite or not. Romo has a huge contract an he isnt elite... My classification of an elite qb is a guy that makes teams immediately and significantly better when hes on the field, can take over a game by himself, has full control of the game and most importantly, can read a defense very well and dont need a top flight target to succeed. There are only 5, and maybe 6 that I call elite right now. Peyton Manning. Tom Brady. Aaron Rodgers. Drew Brees. Ben Roethisberger. Andrew Luck. Maybe Eli Manning. Before I catch heat for this, Look at my classifications for elite qbs. All these qbs possess these factors. Next on the list of really good qbs would be Matt Ryan, Russell Wilson, Joe Flacco, Matt Stafford. I like Russell Wilson, but I havent seen him take over a game yet. Hes been blessed with a great defense and a good running game, so he hasnt ever had to take a game over by himself. The next catagory would contain the next wave of qbs that are missing 2 or more of the qualifications. Jay Cutler. Tony Romo. Colin Kaepernick. Cam Newton. Andy Dalton. Phillip Rivers. Thats how elite status should be given. Thats my feeling on the subject. Im sure Im gonna hear some shit for this lol
