Im not big on talking of myself, many (some) of those reading this know this as fact. Im a pro at deflection. Trust me, its an art. The Robin Williams story hit home for me. Those who battle with severe depression is best explained as standing in a hole and watching the world move on around you. You dont want to bother anyone with your issues, risking they may even look down and realize youre standing in a hole. Asking for help is harder than one would think...and eventually that pain shows itself in many ways. Hidden self hatred, or selfishness (a feeble attempt at rebuilding to try and bury the pain), or anger or even humor. All ways to hide, to bury any transparency which may accidentally skies itself. This isnt the dark room depression we all invision...its the dont let others see youre hurting or they will leave also kind. Advice? I guess the only advice I can share is hold on. Because Ive seen the bottom. The dirty floor bottom, and the cool you can only go up remarks are nice, but empty. Thats obvious...what means more is possibly a I believe in you, because hope its as elusive for some as a foreign language is for others. Robin Williams story tells me what I already knew. Even those who seem to have it all, or even seen to always be funny or alive have some pretty significant battle being fought inside. And sometimes, sadly, we actually for a mere moment believe others are better without our stuff, even scarier is the uneasiness if people found out. I dont know the right answer, maybe just try to be someones friend today. Possibly begin with the one who you assume doesnt need it. Because trust me, the hole is deep. Enjoy the video below. Pretty touching, very well said.
