Im not even gonna try to cleverly imply or hide under fancy - TopicsExpress

Im not even gonna try to cleverly imply or hide under fancy phrases...Im about to die from a lack of inspiration, of interesting people in my immediate surrounding, or of people whose motivations consist of things other than grades, social status and internships. I feel like MIT is a semicircle. Getting that pset done, getting a perfect GPA, and landing that position in that fancy company, and inventing new technology is all important, but thats all were taught and thats only half of a circle. Most of these people dont care about philosophy and art and you need to get educated in this other half in order to foresee social and cultural consequences of technology and innovation...its even A RESPONSIBILITY AS DRIVERS OF THE FUTURE! So go read some books other than your textbook, go watch some films at the Kendall Square Cinema, and maybe go to the ICA and just look at some stuff there (and dont say Oh I could make that too). If youre satisfied as a semicircle you can go on with your pset and get a perfect GPA and land some job and brag about it and make a lot of money and post pictures of you spending that money partying with hot girls (or boys?) and repeat this over and over again but at the end of the day youre a ROBOT, programmed by MIT. Maybe this frustration is an inspiration??
