Hah. I beg to differ. All the things one cannot do when younger begin to be possible once you get to Medicare and Social Security, and the amount of accumulated experience that shows you not only where the glitches are that you might know how to disentangle, but also a sense of priorities and possibilities for that, at very long last. If the expectations are that people run out of gas, that might be a self-fulfilling prophecy. Feed them corn syrup and potato chips, and government policy can create that situation.
