Im not exclusively mourning for the points of defeat for the human race and specifically myself. Im gathering momentum for the next assault on the shortcomings of reality. Let me quote Michael Mandelbaum, The Road to Global Prosperity, page 119, on reasons why the USA, with fewer immigrants and lower birth rate, and less effective health care system cost-wise, is facing economic drag: First, as people get older, most have less energy for everything, including work, they tend to be less creative, producing fewer new ideas and technologies, and they become less prone to take the risks necessary to start new businesses. Hah. I beg to differ. All the things one cannot do when younger begin to be possible once you get to Medicare and Social Security, and the amount of accumulated experience that shows you not only where the glitches are that you might know how to disentangle, but also a sense of priorities and possibilities for that, at very long last. If the expectations are that people run out of gas, that might be a self-fulfilling prophecy. Feed them corn syrup and potato chips, and government policy can create that situation.
