Im not going to share the Mount Vernon News story about Will and his hog, because frankly I think the story was written fairly poorly and lacked a lot of details. Its sad to see some people so quick to judge and put negative feelings towards such great organizations that are 4-H, FFA, and the Knox County Junior Fair in its entirety. While I hope the Smiths and the Fair Board can come to an agreement (because every exhibitor should have a chance to show off their hard work), there are also a few things everyone should know. Boycotting the fair isnt going to impact the correct people. ALL of these children and teenagers put so much time, money, sweat, tears, and much more into their livestock projects. Dont boycott supporting all of these kids. Go to the fair and actually watch a livestock show, learn about how a 9 year old has the ability to control a 1,000 lb steer, how you give a turkey a bath, how difficult it can be to shave a goat, the difference between a dairy and market animal, or so much more. Boycott the midway, the nightly entertainment, the fatty food, dont boycott the kids.
