Im not quite sure what you believe but for me I like to think that when our much loved dogs have to leave us, its not goodbye, just see you later. I believe, like lots of other people, that they bide their time in a great big park with huge grassy hills, where its a balmy 25 degrees every day and they have a big swimming hole to romp around in. Theres fun and friends and they meet up with other doggy family members, having a great time until their favourite human arrives to take them home one last time. Tonight there is another much loved LabraDOG who has joined the hounds in that park. Some of you will remember handsome Henry. A Blacktown Pound hound who was old and grey and a little bit rickety when we collected him in February 2012. I liked the funny old gent but then I have a soft spot for the oldies. Henry was great in care, he could get a little cantankerous with the youngins if they bounced about in his face but he was just telling them like it was. The pic below shows him keeping an eye on the wayaward Layla Puppy and Miss Kula! Truthfully, for the Henrys of the world we never know how long they will have. This handsome boy was lucky enough to be adopted by the Negus family and as it so happens his lovely mum was a qualified Veterinarian so Henry was always going to be in good hands. Henry even came to visit us a short while after adoption and we all went for a short bush walk with Lily for canine company. Katherine has posted that handsome Henry was given his wings recently after arthritis took its toll. I cant tell you how happy it makes me that Henry didnt have his last meal at Blacktown Pound and that he got to be as healthy, happy and loved as he should have always been. What an awesome two years they were for this loved and spoilt boy. Thanks for your beautiful words Katherine and for all you did for Henry. Gone but not forgotten, Henry we hope you are resting peacufully and pain free. ************************************************ Thanks so very much for finding us such a fabulous family friend. Our distinguished Henry: always up for a swim, walk, dig and a warm cuddle. Sadly arthritis got the better of him recently. He will be sorely missed and dearly remembered, especially by all the toddlers he trained!
