Im not sure I like the definition of social network as its defined by Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Its still interaction with other people, but its not social in a deeply personal way. I work in the IT industry. I spent eighteen months in charge of the Helpdesk, helping my company remember the importance of customer service in their external interactions. Im now working towards becoming a system administrator, and am now THE most knowledgeable person you will ever meet on the subject of deploying Windows operating systems on computers. I am also very involved in the Civil Air Patrol, where my primary mission is mentoring kids between the ages of 12 and 21. I help them learn leadership, morality, and aerospace skills that will help them become tomorrows pillars of society. Im 33 years old, single, and fairly satisfied with my lot in life. I tend to get annoyed with slow drivers on my commute, but the long drive gives me plenty of time to listen to podcasts and audiobooks. I care about politics, and have very strong opinions, but choose not to share them in public. Im not looking forward to the midterm elections coming up because Im not a fan of the mudslinging and Im holier than him style of modern campaigns. I love flying remote control airplanes, and Im about a month behind on watching NASCAR races. Im hoping to get caught up before the season ends in November. Ive used the Oxford comma three times in this post, and Im proud that I can recognize it. I had pasta for dinner tonight, but I dont have a picture to post. I have a lot of interesting things to share with you, my friends. I can talk eloquently on many topics. It makes me sad that these interactions would only get drowned out by the deluge of links to news stories, videos of dogs chasing soap bubbles, and captioned images professing some random point or view. Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are certainly social networks, but they arent the sort of social I think we want.. What do you think?
