Im not sure how many of you read Chris’s weekly email, but - TopicsExpress

Im not sure how many of you read Chris’s weekly email, but yesterday his “THOUGHTS FROM CHRIS” was on giving. I thought it would be fitting if I share my testimony on giving for those who may question Gods amount he says to give. At the end of the 2013, I met with my mother to have her help me develop a budget for 2014. I went to her with what I thought was a good budget. I had each category laid out with the appropriate amount I needed to set aside each month for me to survive and also have a little wiggle room. My mom looked it over and ask me what my goals for 2014 were. I said I want to work my way up to tithe as God says to. Sure I was giving weekly, but I was giving what I could afford. My mom said “you can tithe correctly now. You HAVE to tithe correctly first and then make your budget around that. The rest will take care of itself, and you will be rewarded.” Of course I was like “How will I eat? How will I get to work? I wont have enough money for this and that.” So I slept on it and when I woke up, God had placed it on my heart to “give diligently”. So from that day forward I gave as God had ask. Sure there where some tight weeks and I ate some things that maybe I shouldn’t have, but we never went hungry and I made it to work every day yet I continued to be obedient. As you all know HCV has so many things going on all the time. And there were many things I would have to miss just so I had gas to make it to work the next day. In November of 2013 I interviewed for a job that was going to be a great opportunity for me, in my personal career and also financially. Sunday morning during worship, God spoke to me and said “ You will get this job, for the simple fact that you will be able to get to the HCV events and you will serve others.” Yesterday I was awarded the job, and the financial rewards are way more than I expected. I cannot wait to get started so that I may increase my giving and also to be more involved with my HCV family and the serving of our community. All I can say is thank you mom for your words of wisdom, and if you are torn on how to give or how much, all I can say is you will be rewarded if you are obedient more than you could ask for.
