Im not sure why listing some of the books that were relevant for you at one point, should take the form of a challenge, because I would have done it „for free” :)). But thanks, Freija Vanir, Steve Santa-Maria, Neaţu Ovidiu Gabriel for taking the time to mention me. Note: these are not necessarily the best books Ive read, nor ones I would necessarily recommend. They are just some titles that are relevant for historical reasons, for my own timeline so far. The Physics of Star Trek (by Lawrence M. Krauss), because its great to know we live in an amazing, natural Universe. The Lucifer Principle (by Howard Bloom), because even a shoddy sign can point you in the right direction. Surely Youre Joking, Mr. Feynman! because it feels good to know its ok to think your own thoughts. Sometimes its just fine to ask for a Map of the Cat. The Blank Slate (by Steven Pinker (official)), because getting an overdose of quality knowledge from a variety of fields is awesome. God Emperor of Dune (by Frank Herbert), because you dont always have to swim against the existing current, nor does everyone else have to swim along yours. Altered Carbon (by Richard Morgan), because, unexpectedly, contemporary science fiction can address deep philosophical issues that were always bothering you. Anansi Boys (by Neil Gaiman), because I am absotively a sucker for happy endings and great storytelling, thats why. Also gave me an appreciation for smart fantasy. The Evolution of God (by Robert Wright), because it is nice to learn radically new things about topics you thought you knew. Shadow of the Giant (by Orson Scott Card), because a good authors insistence of promoting his own personal views through his works, at the cost of their quality, can teach you important lessons about human nature. Sometimes we just cant help it. The Naked Sun (by Isaac Asimov), because it introduced me to a literary genre that manages to consistently captivate and hold my runaway attention. To Sail Beyond the Sunset (by Robert Heinlein), because if the last book of a dying, 80 year old man, managed to be one of his best, it gives hope to us who, hopefully, still have decades ahead of us. Life is good. Hopefully, by next time this year, the list will be different. I was thinking about not playing fair, and not forwarding this meme, but Im curious what Sava Sergiu has to say (since he already recommended something that instantly drew my attention).
