Im not sure you would call this an art quilt, but I need some advise. I decided a few years back to make a Bible quilt. I took 1 verse from each book of the Bible and embroidered the verse on a block. The center is a large black block which is suppose to represent the Bible. The border has each of the 10 commandments embroidered and the top border has the golden rule. I have two problems. One, my mother has a quilter, but its not a digital/computerized machine. Im afraid to machine quilt this quilt because Im afraid the quilting will either tear up the embroidery and/or the thread will take away from the verses. I thought about hand quilting but that will take a lot of time. I will hand quilt if that is the only other option. The second, I cant find the design I want for the quilting. I would like to have a design that looks like a crown of thorns around the verses and thorn branches on the border. Does anyone have any ideas, thoughts, concerns, comments? All are welcome. The picture is not the greatest and does not do the quilt justice. One last thing, once I get the quilt done I would like to raffle it off for a charity. My plan is split the proceeds between a charity of my choice and a charity of the winners choice.
