Im now looking over a legal brief we were forced to file in - TopicsExpress

Im now looking over a legal brief we were forced to file in response to a very late, after-the-fact, Supreme Court brief filed by LOA, our BOC, and our GCDA. I noticed we had to send notification to nine attorneys. Every time I turn around, theres another attorney with their hands in the taxpayers pocket. Can someone please tell me why we taxpayers need to pay for NINE attorneys? Are the three already on retainer really that incompetent? (OJ got away with murder and I only saw two representing him.) Whats worse, I talk to BOC and GCDA members and they havent a clue how these attorneys even came into the picture. None of them claim to have ever voted to appeal the bond denial, much less hire all these expensive attorneys. If most of our elected and appointed officials arent making these decisions, just exactly who is steering this wayward ship? Id certainly like to know. With serious Constitutional and ethical issues on the line, I would think our elected school board would be the first in line demanding answers. After all, its their feet the others are trampling upon. Why the silence? I suppose the majority isnt interested in the separation of powers instilled and guaranteed by our State Constitution. Why arent they demanding these answers? Thats a sad situation. Their silence is deafening. Im 10 years removed from having a child in high school. I dont have a dog in this fight other than assuring the largest portion of our great county isnt left in the dust by self-serving and greedy power players. Lake Oconee has been a blessing to our county. Lets dont lose focus and let it become the curse that destroyed our great county. Its up to you.
