Im old enough to remember when Blazing Saddles qualified as a comedy. This story out of Oklahoma is almost as funny but not in a good way. Apparently its ok to shoot a small town police chief four times provided hes black and youre white. Sentinel police busted into the residence of survivalist Dallas Horton in the early morning hours after a bomb threat phone call to a local community center had been traced to the address. Upon entering the bedroom Police Chief Louis Ross was shot three times in the chest and one in the arm. If he hadnt been wearing a bulletproof vest hed have been a goner. Mr. Horton was taken in for questioning and subsequently released without charges. Meanwhile it remains open season on African-American males who cant shop for water pistols at Walmart without being considered fair game. I think its fair to conclude that no black man would ever survive pointing a firearm at a law enforcement officer in this country but if youre lily-white and a known second amendment aficionado the rules obviously shift in your favor. Only a matter of time now before Chief Ross is taken into custody and treated to a bit of rough frontier justice by the Fox News posse. Maybe thatll teach him not to disrespect his superiors by getting shot by them in the line of duty. Un-friggin-believeable!
