Im pleased for my friends and neighbors that the Royals are returning to postseason play for the first time in 29 years. But Ive been trying to imagine a society which admires poets as much as athletes - which reveres peacemakers and healers and providers of shelter and farmers as much as warriors. Where being kind was as esteemed as being tough, where a healing word was as important as an injurious one. Being part of such a society would really please me.
