Im pretty damn annoyed right now! Today has been the first time in 7 and a half years of doing boudoir that I have decided that I dont want to shoot someone and will be refunding them their deposit. It is quite sad for me actually. Those whove had shoots with me know how down to earth and patient I am, how much I love my job, how much running around it is and how much of a perfectionist I am when it comes to getting them the results they want. When my clients book in, I give them access to my client preparation site which is packed with info to help them prepare for their shoots, has a visual list of all my sets with accompanying lingerie advice and so much more. Today I have had to beg and beg for my client to let me know what sets/backdrops she wants to use in her shoot and all Ive succeeded in is being told I am rude and her London tog doesnt need this info, pretty much saying why should I?! 99% of the time people read the advice I give them and bring suitable coloured and styled lingerie for the sets they pick. Other times people will email what they intend to bring and ask for my advice on what will suit which I totally love! I didnt qualify as a clairvoyant at Hogwarts so I dont want to be forced to set up backdrops that may not work with the style and colour of someones lingerie, why even chance it?? Why do I need this set info anyway? So I can create the scenes/backdrops the client wants, move furniture into place (2 man job most of the time), iron bed sheets, clear other furniture out of the way, hang drapes, light the sets etc etc. I dont have enough time when the client is in hair and make-up to create 4 of these sets and I like to sit with my clients while they are being styled so I can have a natter and get to know them. Nor do I want to be out of puff before Ive even started. I find it so utterly disappointing and frustrating that someone wont tell me the utter basics of what I am doing for their shoot and I have asked 3 times (especially when they have had all this advice and info for a month) so that I can actually do my job properly and get them the results they want. I shouldnt have to beg. Conclusion - Im not dealing with people like that, their money is not worth the hassle or the frustration. I like photographing people who actually care about their results and are willing to put the time into reading the info I send them enabling me do my job well.
