Im proud to be a part of the #LGBTSportsCoalition, that is objecting to an anti-trans athlete advertisement in the Minneapolis @StarTribune. Rather than saying, I respectfully disagree on allowing Minnesota transgender high school student athletes to play on athletic teams consistent with their gender identity -- they instead deliberately suggest that trans youth represent a threat to the safety of their classmates in locker rooms. In fact, the 15 other states that have considered inclusive policies for transgendered athletes have zero incidents of harm from transgendered athletes -- the only incidents involve trans-athlete as the target of bullying. They were harassed, not harassers, and need our protection with inclusive policies like the ones being considered. Sports are terrific, with seven million kids around the country playing high school sports. Lets make that number bigger, with policies that include everyone.
