Im proud to report that I offered two important amendments to the budget that will help us fight the epidemic of substance abuse in our neighborhoods. First, the DPH will now start the process of setting up regional substance abuse walk-in centers to make sure that help is there when addicts need it. Second, the DPH will from now on publish an annual report documenting our year-to-year progress in achieving the goals of improving access to substance abuse services and outcomes. Substance abuse affects every city, every neighborhood and every family and Im going to keep fighting it.
