Im rarely the one to throw my opinion out on social media or go on a rant of any kind about controversial issues, but this whole #ferguson thing is just getting out of hand. Tonight, the ignorance and ugliness I see toward one another is just ridiculous. It seems to me that the second something controversial begins trending on Facebook, everyone suddenly has a strong opinion accompanied by a strong sense of self-righteousness. To be completely honest and blunt about it, Im generally the kind of person to sit back, read peoples posts, and either laugh or shake my head at what people are willing to say publicly. Tonight, however, I am a bit saddened and disturbed by what I am reading. My news feed is filled with nothing but hatred. This world is not in the state that its in because a government official made a mistake or because a young minority man was doing something wrong, this world is suffering the effects of its own negativity. Whether it be the city of Ferguson, Missouri or the Gaza Strip, hatred is tearing this world apart. Everyone is more than entitled to their own opinion, but why must we be so intolerant of each other? Is there no compassion left in this world? Tonight, I for one am praying for both a human being who has been killed as well as a human being who is wanted dead. More than anything, I pray that we all can learn to love a little more and hate a little less. #lightupthedarkness
