Im reading an essay talking about the decline of the family in America and it makes me realize how stupid academics can be sometimes. One of the authors blames the decline on the me-generation explaining people anlre more interested in egalitarianism and working on themselves so they are less willing to invest in familial life. That would make sense if the country we live in didnt have such a large and ever increasing income gap and the lack of affordable education. Generally speaking dumb people have more kids because they dont do the research that says they should wait until they can support the kid. The stresses of money to support that child or those children will destroy a relationship. Also, more people are going to be dumb if they cant afford an education. So maybe the family is on decline because people are starting to realize the only way to be happy and successful in America is to focus on themselves and and be selfish and just focus on the skills that will make them wealthy and successful like the people who are writing these articles. The disconnect from the average person in these essays is infuriating sometimes.
