Im really enjoying reading the posts on this group so I thought I would add my tuppence worth Things I remember: St Pauls school, Huddersfield Rd, infants and juniors Mr White was a giant (hes on Facebook by the way) Copley School was just fields (I watched the school being built from my house on Huddersfield Rd - one of the 4 cottages set back in front of the school) Copley Disco on Demesne Drive on a Friday Night Unicorn Wine, Demesne Drive (before Copley Disco on Friday) Sweet shop at top of Lindsay Street (Bob and ?? cant bloody remember her name)when a 10 pence mix got you about 20 items! Grey Street playing fields and the police never letting us play on there The woods at the back of Grey Street playing fields led on to Fern Bank Tea shed end and old wooden stand at Stalybridge Celtic The old clubhouse, Stalybridge Celtic Grays nightclub (was the old Stalybridge Celtic clubhouse-Now Bowerfold curry house) Shades/Porters S.A.D. Ravens Discos Roadshow Disco’s at Stalybridge Town Hall 5 Penny Piece (Eddie Crotty, John & Lynda Meeks, George & Colin Radcliffe) Crotties, Mottram Rd Meeks Shoe shop (Although in Ashton) Pashley’s Fruit and Veg, corner of Mottram Road and Stocks Lane Palace Cinema, Stalybridge Regan making Jellybeans in the cocktail bar at the Old Fleece The old cotton mills on Demesne drive/Oxford St (now housing estates) Carrs bakers, Shaws bakers, Oxford St chippy Takes me back! Im back in the UK in October if anyone fancies a pint........
