Im sad to hear the Pro-Police and first responders rally scheduled - TopicsExpress

Im sad to hear the Pro-Police and first responders rally scheduled for tomorrow in Rochester NY was canceled! Im not however surprised! When Mr Lonsberry announced the event on his radio show I told my wife right away it would never take place. When she asked me why, I told her that in this political correct world we live in, the powers that be would stop it! A rally today has to be less about supporting something and more about tearing something down! It has to advance an agenda, a political campaign or support a liberal view point. A rally must also be media worthy and we know that supporting our officers and first responders is never news worthy unless theyre killed in the line of duty! If Bob Lonsberry was organizing a rally to bash the police it would have went off without a hitch! The same people who protested on behalf of getting this rally canceled would have been leading the charge! Our wonderful mayor would have even made a photo op! Its a sad day in America when you discover all the beliefs you have about liberty and freedom are now just dreams of what once was! Its a sad day in America when the constitution is a piece of paper that holds no more value then a piece of toilet paper! What have we become! Are we going to live in a politically correct world that dictates our choices and the rights of its citizens! Are we going to bend to the will of those who keep us bound by the chains of fear! Is this the same America that our soliders died for and still today risk their lives to protect!? Is this the same America that watched social reformers like Martin Luther King and Susan B Antony rally in defense of liberty and justice!? The truth about this rally is, it would have helped support our local officers and first responders and encourage them to continue to put their lives on the line for us! It would have showed our community that people can come together for a positive and peaceful demonstration without fear or reprisal. It would have shown other cities that we Rochesterians are united in our support of those who risk their lives for us everyday! That we are a proud city not constrained by the outside political views and media propaganda that other cities are! Most of all though, It would have brought people together for a common cause! There would have been a lot of handshaking and polite conversations. People would have patronized the local businesses and changed some of the stereotypes they might have about the inner city and those who live there! It would have erased that line that so many of us draw in our heads. This rally was about a lot more then just supporting our first responders, it was about supporting each other! About being an example to the rest of the country on how love conquers hatred and prejudices and brings people together for good! Thank you Bob Lonsberry for trying to bring this city together for something positive! Thanks for being a voice for so many of us in a headwind of opposition and discourse. We appreciate you and your efforts to bring positive change to our great City! God Bless you and your family and may you all have A Merry Christmas!
